Lose 30 Pounds of This...

"I felt so much lighter after our session."
"It feels like I lost 20 pounds."
"I've been carrying 30 pounds of stress on my shoulders."
Growing up, weight was always a conversation in our family.
It was something people worried about, talked about, and tried to solve.
Diet after diet.
Plan after plan.
I personally didn't struggle with physical weight, but I watched how deeply it affected the emotional lives of the people I loved.
Their identity slowly became wrapped up in the problem.
Their sense of value became tied to the number on the scale.
A Different Kind of Weight
Recently, I had the privilege of coaching a young mom who came to me because she felt stuck in her business.
She's intelligent, deeply committed to personal growth, and has built a wonderful life for herself and her child.
At the end of our session she smiled and said,
"I feel so much lighter today... like I dropped 20 pounds."
I paused.
Not because I thought she'd actually lost 20 pounds.
But because I realized she had just described something we almost never measure.
Emotional weight.
That simple phrase inspired a completely different way of thinking.
The Weight We Don't Measure
What if one of the greatest measures of progress wasn't simply how many pounds came off our body...
...but how many pounds came off our heart?

Most of us understand the idea of losing physical weight.
We celebrate it.
We track it.
We talk about it.
But we rarely stop to ask,
How much emotional weight am I carrying?
The burden of unresolved conflict.
The pressure of trying to be enough.
The grief we never processed.
The guilt.
The shame.
The constant responsibility.
The fear.
The stories we've been carrying for years.
Those things have weight too.
And unlike physical weight, they quietly influence every conversation, every relationship, every decision, and every opportunity we encounter.
A New Measure of Progress
I want to change that.
I want us to begin measuring the emotional weight we're carrying just as intentionally as we measure physical weight.
Because sometimes the greatest transformation isn't losing 20 pounds from your body.
It's losing 20 pounds from your emotional world.
Maybe it's time we started paying as much attention to the weight we carry within...
as we do to the weight we carry on the outside.
